The Shire will close its offices at 12 noon on Thursday 5 June 2025 (half day) and will be closed all day on Friday 6 June 2025 for Hari Raya Haji Public Holiday.

PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE DRAFT PHOSPHATE HILL STRUCTURE PLAN AND THE DRAFT SILVER CITY STRUCTURE PLAN

In accordance with Regulations (Schedule 2,cl.18) and (Schedule 2. Cl.87) of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, the Shire of Christmas Island is seeking public comment on the Draft Phosphate hill Structure Plan and the Draft Silver City Structure Plan.

Have your say - draft structure plans for silver city & phosphate hill

The Shire is asking for your say on the Draft Structure Plans for Silver City and Phosphate Hill. These plans have been funded by the Commonwealth to help address the housing challenges on Christmas Island under the Housing Support Program - Stream 1 fund.

A Structure Plan sets out the design, density and amenities for proposed development in an area. 

You can provide your feedback using the forms below, by direct email to chris@shire.gov.cx or in hard copy to the reception at the Shire Offices Monday-Friday. The public has until 14 July 2025 to make their submissions.
