You may be eligible to be enrolled to vote in the following in-person Local Government elections on 16 October 2021 if you live in or are an owner or occupier of rateable property in the district of the Shire of Christmas Island.

Residents

You are automatically enrolled to vote if you are on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll of Lingiari as at 5.00pm on 27 August 2021. If you are not already on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll but meet the eligibility criteria for this Roll, a claim for enrolment can be made to any Divisional Returning Officer of the Australian Electoral Commission (Darwin Northern Territory office). Forms are available from the Post Office or the Australian Electoral Commission and must be completed and reach a Divisional Returning Officer by 5.00pm Friday 27 August 2021.

Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers

If you are a non-resident owner or occupier of rateable property in the Shire of Christmas Island and are on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll, you are eligible to enrol to vote and should make an enrolment application to the Shire of Christmas Island. If you are not on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll and own or occupy rateable property in the Shire of Christmas Island district, you may still be eligible to enrol to vote if you were on the Local Government’s last electoral roll prior to May 1996. Please contact the Shire of Christmas Island for details. Owners of land who were on the last roll of the Shire of Christmas Island continue to retain that status until they cease to own the rateable property to which the enrolment relates. Occupiers do not have continuous enrolment and should contact the Shire of Christmas Island to confirm their enrolment status. To be eligible to enrol as an occupier, you will need to have a right of continuous occupation under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument for at least the next 3 months following the date of the application to enrol.

Joint Owners and Occupiers

If a rateable property is owned or occupied by more than two people, a majority of the owners/occupiers may nominate two persons from amongst themselves who are on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll to enrol as owner/occupier electors.

Corporations

A body corporate that owns or occupies rateable property may nominate two people who are on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll to enrol as owner/occupier electors.

Enrolment Forms

Enrolment claim forms can be obtained from the Shire of Christmas Island or Australian Electoral Commission offices and should be lodged with the particular Chief Executive Officer by 5.00pm Friday 27 August 2021. If you registered for the 2019 elections or since that time you do not need to register.

Anda mungkin layak mendaftarkan diri untuk mengundi dalam Pilihan Raya Kerajaan Tempatan Wilayah Pulau Krismas yang dijadualkan pada 16 Oktober 2021 sekiranya anda tinggal di Wilayah Pulau Krismas atau merupakan seorang pemilik atau penghuni sebuah harta kena bayar cukai pintu di Wilayah Pulau Krismas.

Para Penduduk

Anda akan didaftarkan untuk mengundi dalam pilihan raya secara automatik sebagai seorang pengundi di tempat anda tinggal sekiranya nama anda tersenarai dalam Daftar Pengundi Komanwel (Lingiari) sebagai seorang penduduk alamat tersebut pada pukul 5.00 petang, 27 Ogos 2021. Sekiranya nama anda tidak terdapat dalam Daftar Pengundi Komanwel dan anda memenuhi kriteria kelayakan, anda harus memohon kepada seorang Pegawai Bahagian Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Australia di Wilayah Utara untuk mendaftarkan diri. Borang pendaftaran boleh didapati di semua pejabat pos atau Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Australia dan mesti dilengkapi serta diserahkan kepada seorang Pegawai Pilihan Raya Bahagian sebelum pukul 5.00 petang, hari Jumaat 27 Ogos 2021.

Pemilik dan Penghuni Bukan Pemastautin

Sekiranya anda seorang pemilik atau penghuni bukan pemastautin sebuah harta kena bayar cukai pintu di kawasan kerajaan tempatan anda dan nama anda tersenarai dalam Daftar Pengundi Negeri atau Komanwel, anda layak mendaftarkan diri untuk mengundi dan harus mengemukakan permohonan pendaftaran kepada Wilayah Pulau Krismas. Sekiranya nama anda tidak tersenarai dalam Daftar Pengundi Negeri atau Komanwel dan memiliki atau menghuni sebuah harta kena bayar cukai pintu di Wilayah Pulau Krismas, anda mungkin layak mendaftarkan diri untuk mengundi sekiranya nama anda tersenarai dalam daftar pengundi Wilayah Pulau Krismas lama yang sah sebelum bulan Mei 1996. Sila hubungi pihak berkuasa Wilayah Pulau Krismas untuk maklumat lanjut. Bagi para pemilik tanah yang namanya terdapat dalam daftar pengudi Wilayah Pulau Krismas lama, status mereka terus dikekalkan sehingga mereka tidak lagi memiliki harta kena bayar cukai pintu yang berkaitan dengan status pendaftaran mereka.

Status pendaftaran para penghuni tidak dikekalkan dan mereka harus menghubungi pihak berkuasa Wilayah Pulau Krismas untuk mengesahkan status pendaftaran mereka. Demi layak mendaftarkan diri sebagai seorang penghuni, anda perlu mempunyai hak untuk terus menghuni di bawah satu pajakan, perjanjian sewa-menyewa atau surat cara lain untuk sekurang-kurangnya tiga bulan selepas tarikh permohonan pendaftaran.

Para Pemilik dan Penghuni Bersama

Sekiranya sebuah harta kena bayar cukai pintu itu dimiliki atau dihuni oleh lebih daripada dua orang, pemilik-pemilik/penghuni-penghuni berkenaan boleh mencalonkan secara majoriti dua orang daripada mereka yang namanya tersenarai dalam daftar pengundi Negeri atau Komanwel untuk mendaftar menjadi pengundi pemilik/penghuni.

Perbadanan

Sebuah perbadanan yang memiliki atau menghuni sebuah harta kena bayar cukai pintu boleh mencalonkan dua orang yang namanya tersenarai dalam Daftar Pengundi Negeri atau Komanwel untuk mendaftar menjadi pengundi pemilik/penghuni.

Borang Pendaftaran

Borang permohonan pendaftaran boleh didapati daripada kerajaan-kerajaan tempatan atau Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Australia dan harus dihantarkan kepada Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Wilayah Pulau Krismas, PO Box 863 Christmas Island 6798 sebelum pukul 5.00 petang, hari Jumaat 27 Ogos 2021. Sekiranya anda telah mendaftarkan diri untuk pilihan raya 2019 atau selepas itu, anda tidak perlu mendaftarkan diri lagi.
